According to the US Department of Interior, "Druid Hills is significant as the finest example of late 19th and early 20th century comprehensive planning and development in the Atlanta area, and one of the finest period suburbs in the Southeast."

Druid Hills is one of the most sought after areas in Atlanta, designed and created in the 1890's by developer Joel Hurt and world renowned landscape architect Frederick Olmsted. Olmsted is known for his work in New York's Central Park, Stanford University, the US Capitol grounds, and the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina. In fact, it was Olmsted's indelible mark on Druid Hills that is credited with the success of future master planned communities such as Ansley Park, Morningside, and Avondale Estates.

The 1,300 acre Druid Hills Historic Distric was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in the 1970's.  Practical benefits of living in Druid Hills is low Dekalb County taxes that are significantly less than Atlanta's own Fulton County. Druid Hills is within walking distance of Emory University, trendy Virginia Highlands, and a short drive to Midtown, Buckhead, or Downtown Atlanta.
